To Be: A Liturgy of Love

About six-years ago God began to give me different pieces to write: Spoken Words, Song Lyrics, Liturgies and Poems. At times people would ask about my writing process, the only way I could answer was, God gives it to me. It was not helpful for people that were wanting to learn but it was honest and true.

Writing what God has given me creates great freedom. There is no expectation to perform or to make things perfect. I just get to connect and Be. When God gives me words it often feels like they are bubbling up. As if I am a tea kettle and the heated water within me must create a whistle or I may explode. The words often come as I am acknowledging my union with God, and then I feel this need to pay attention and write them down immediately.

This was the first thing God gave me: Your Great Love. Your Great Love is written as a liturgy. When reading a liturgy, I like to practice my breathing. It helps me learn to breathe deeper than I normally do. I inhale the regular script and exhale the italicized. The goal is not to rush, but to truly sit and allow each breath to fill my body.

Your Great Love

Your love is strong,

            Stronger than any mountain

Your love is long,

            Longer than any river

Your love is wide,

            Wider than any valley

Your love is deep

            Deeper than any ocean

Your love is high,

            Higher than any star

Your love is great,

            Greater than any person

Your love is all we need

Hallelujah

Hallelujah to the King

Hallelujah

Hallelujah to our Prince of Peace

Hallelujah

Hallelujah to the Creator of Everything

Hallelujah

May we be a people that believe God is for us and that His love surrounds us.
